• Is the brand an air conditioning specialist or a general goods manufacturer?
• Product range – do they have a model to suit your needs?
• Warrantee
• Installation expertise
• After-sales service
• Parts availability now and in future (lifespan is approximately 10 years)
• Purchase security
• Recourse for performance, installation, guarantee, after-sales service and parts, financial security

Factors to evaluate to ensure correct unit selection

• Size of the unit required
  - Size of Room
  - Number and size of windows
  - Room orientation
  - Type of ceiling and level of insulation
• Application in the home: wall mount, in ceiling, cassette
• Heating and cooling options
• Functions for control and control options

Factors to evaluate when comparing units of the same size and similar functions

• Efficiency
• Filtration system in the unit
• Inverter or fixed speed technology
• Validation of performance and quality
• Ozone depletion of the gas in the unit (i.e. Refrigerant)
• Aesthetic design
• Installation details and electrical compliance
• Installation and after sales. This can be difficult in a shop envirnoment. Look for service collateral, call out procedure etc.
