Purchasing, running and maintaining an air conditioning system can be costly and it will become a permanent feature in your home for several years to come so please take the time to read the information below as it will help you make an informed decision ensuring both immediate satisfaction as well as the best long term benefits for you.
Installation
Installation can be either satisfying or frustrating, which is why we’ll ensure that it’s done correctly by an Airwell installer.
Please view our installation tutorial below:
This ensures a better standard of work and no hidden costs. It is in the Airwell installer’s interest to make certain that the unit works well, the customer is impressed and to install properly so that the unit performs and lasts.
Bear in mind that the installer will:
- Come into your home
- Drill holes in your walls
- Make connections to your electrical system
- Mount units in places you will see every day
For a proper installation, the installer should follow these guidelines:
- The connecting pipes must be cleaned internally; all air must be vacuumed out before commissioning. If not, the moisture in the air is absorbed by the oil and this turns acidic, resulting in corrosion, the need for more frequent servicing and, ultimately, the system having a shorter life span
- Units must be commissioned and tested correctly before hand-over to the customer
- Penetrations in walls must be sealed and made smooth and flat (Please note that it is impossible to match existing paint colour exactly so all installations exclude wet work.)
- Units must be centred and level
- Electrical connections must comply with SABS so that a Certificate Of Compliance (COC) can be obtained by the home owner when the house is sold or for insurance purposes
- Outdoor units must be installed in a position where they are easy to service and maintain
- Outdoor units must be installed in a position where they are not unsightly
- Outdoor units must have an electrical isolator for maintenance purposes
Although these items seem obvious, beware of cheaper installations; they are only cheaper because something is being left out.
Do not install the unit yourself. An air-conditioner is an expensive appliance and improper installation will affect performance and reliability, void your warrantee and shorten its lifespan.
